The Cape Cod Collection is manufactured out of Marine Grade Polymer (MGP) it is a form of plastic called High Density Polyethylene that was originally developed for the marine industry and was quickly adopted for other outdoor applications including furniture. The frame will not rot, swell, blister or delaminate and will hold up in salt water and chlorinated environments without fading or breaking down. As a non-porous material it is easy to clean and does not absorb dirt, chemicals, or any liquids (including red wine and permanent marker) It is significantly stronger, more scratch resistant, and durable then furniture from recycled materials.
